World War Z

Where was it filmed?

Hanningfield Reservoir
The Hanningfield Reservoir served as a filming location, specifically for scenes set in a South Korean prison and military base. The reservoir’s underground tunnels of the water treatment plant were transformed to resemble Camp Humphreys.

Where can i visit?

The 870-acre Hanningfield reservoir is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to the number of wildfowl that use the reservoir in the autumn and winter. For panoramic views over the water, head to Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Discovery Park. This Essex Wildlife Nature Reserve offers woodland walks, a beautiful carpet of bluebells in spring and has proved a popular bat roost. Take your binoculars and enjoy the bird hides placed along the routes before returning to the café for a delicious refreshment. Hanningfield is also home to some well-loved characters from the Wind in the Willows stories.
