The Woman in Black

Where was it filmed?

Osea Island

Starring Daniel Radcliffe, this 20212 film prominently featured Osea Island in Essex as a location. The island’s causeway was used to represent the fictional Nine Lives Causeway leading to Eel Marsh House, the haunted house central to the story. Osea Island’s remote and eerie atmosphere, with its causeway accessible only at low tide, contributed to the film’s spooky aesthetic and setting.

Mangapps Railway Museum

Several railway scenes were filmed at Mangapps Railway Museum, featuring a vintage Edwardian passenger carriage and a Southern Railway U Class 2-6-0 No. 1638 locomotive. The scenes include Daniel Radcliffe on the train and at Sheffield Park station, with some CGI used for background shots.

Colne Valley Railway

The Colne Valley Railway, a heritage railway in Essex, provided the period setting for scenes where Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) travels to the fictional town of Crythin Gifford.
