Stansted Airport
London Stansted Airport has both long and short haul flights flying to and from destinations from all over the globe. The airport is well connected, just a short distance from the M11 and with regular buses to the city of Chelmsford, as well as its own train station. Train and bus stations are just quick two-minute walk from the airport terminal, with a drop off and pick up area right outside. Within the airport, you will find a wide variety of duty-free shops, restaurants and more to keep you busy whilst you wait for your flights!
Church Langley Water Tower
Church Langley Water Tower, built in 1993-1994, is a prominent concrete structure located east of Church Langley in Harlow. Today the Tower is not open to the public but serves as a significant local landmark. Nearby, explore the Gibberd Garden, a beautiful and quirky garden designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd or the Harlow Museum and Walled Gardens, offers insights into local history and lovely garden walks.
Bush Fair Harlow
Bush Fair in Harlow was developed between 1955-1962 as part of the Harlow New Town project. It was named after the historic Harlow Bush Fair, a large gathering of livestock and goods trade believed to have taken place annually in the area. Today it is a vibrant shopping area perfect for visitors of all ages and offers a variety of shops, cafes and community facilities. Nearby, visit the Harlow Museum & Walled Gardens to learn more about the area’s history.
Harwich Harbour
Harwich is a unique old town, steeped in maritime history. Follow the Mayflower 400 Trail and discover the exciting stories that link the town to one of the most significant voyages in history – did you know Harwich was home to the Mayflower Captain himself? Alternatively take the Maritime Heritage Walking Trail which passes notable sites including the Redoubt Fort and Harwich Museum. Stop by the breath-taking Electric Palace Cinema, built in 1911 and now one of the oldest unaltered purpose-built cinemas in Britain. For a fun experience all year round, take a seal watching trip to the Walton Backwaters from Ha’penny Pier, one of the UK’s only surviving working wooden piers or wander along Dovercourt Beach to its two iconic cast iron lighthouses, once used to guide ships into the harbour.
Lee Valley Regional Park
Lee Valley Regional Park stretches over 10,000 acres and offers a unique mix of award-winning sport and leisure facilities, heritage sites, gardens, nature reserves and riverside trails. The Regional Park winds its way 26 miles along the banks of the River Lee from Hertfordshire, down through Essex, North and East London, and is easily accessible by bike, car, bus, train or on foot.
