Hedingham Castle
An iconic landmark of Essex, Hedingham Castle in Halstead was built over 900 years ago and is known to be the best preserved Norman keep in England alongside the motte and bailey castle. Still inhabited by descendents of the De Veres, the Earls of Oxford, who built the castle around 1100, the surroundings of gardens, charming woodland and a stunning lake make it a beautiful place to explore all year round. Their events programme has something for everyone, from exciting jousts to vintage fairs and outdoor cinema. Hedingham Castle is known for being one of the county’s most romantic wedding venues, and a peaceful place for a weekend away with their accommodation options.
