Epping Ongar Railway
This Heritage Railway doubled as two different train stations; the ext and int ticket office played as Tring Railway Station as the main character rushed to London with baby, and the waiting room/platform side was an unnamed Scottish train station that was covered in snow, causing trains to be cancelled.
Castle street, Chipping Ongar
A house on Castle Street was used for the character whose baby, the main character thought he had, but turned out he didn’t!
Epping Ongar Railway have featured in a large number of tv and film productions. Why not step back in time and experience the romance of travel in bygone times as you pass through picturesque countryside, beautiful forest and historic towns. Famed for being the only heritage line that runs on a former part of the tube network! There’s lots to do for the whole family. Nearby you can also visit Epping Forest which offers a wonderful range of activities including walking, cycling, horse riding, football, golf, cricket and boating; with events all year round. Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge is just next door and is a perfect example of a Tudor hunt standing, where Henry VIII’s and royals alike would have held hunts and elaborate feasts in the 16th Century. Here you can learn about the Forest’s part in Tudor history, architecture and culture.
Chipping Ongar offers historic charm with its listed buildings, ancient churches like St Martin’s (incorporating Roman bricks) and nearby Greensted Church (world’s oldest wooden church), plus the medieval Ongar Castle (Motte & Bailey) and steam train rides on the Epping Ongar Railway through Epping Forest, alongside local pubs, museums, and parks for a pleasant countryside visit.
