One of Essex’s many historic gems, the Electric Palace Cinema in Harwich is one of the oldest purpose-built cinemas still standing today, having been built back in 1911. You will find its silent screen, original projection room, and beautiful frontage all still intact. After a £1m restoration project, the cinema is just as charming as it was all those years ago, and stills serves as a wonderful entertainment hub for visitors. Along Kings Quay Street in Harwich, you will find the Electric Palace Cinema – one of the oldest purpose-built cinemas. The street is just a short stroll away from the waterfront, where you can relax on the sandy Yachting Beach. Whilst in the area, why not visit the Harwich Lifeboat Museum? Or, head to the other side of the town to the Ha’penny Pier where you can catch the boat to go seal watching, or grab a bite to eat at The Pier restaurant.
Belchamp Hall, Belchamp Water
Belchamp Hall served as the backdrop for Felsham Hall, Lovejoy’s primary residence. Located in the most beautiful countryside. close to Saffron Walden where you can visit Audley End House and Gardens which is one of England’s finest stately homes. The village is also known for the Belchamp Folly, a unique structure built in the 19th century. Additionally, the area provides opportunities for countryside walks and exploring the nearby villages of Belchamp St Paul and Bulmer Tye. Bulmer also has its claim to fame in having one of the last surviving brick & tile yards where each brick & tile is hand moulded, fired and distributed throughout the British Isles from clay dug up from its own supply within Bulmer.
