Hadleigh Country Park
In 2021, the Essex Film Office were asked to assist with finding a very unusual location – an Iron Age roundhouse fit for Essex heroine Boudica for the film of the same name released in 2022. Although the replica roundhouse is no longer there, the filming took place at Hadleigh Country Park, which is open 7 days a week to visitors and overlooks the London estuary, offering with views on a clear day from Canary Wharf round to Southend pier.
387 acres in the South of Essex, Hadleigh Country Park is a beautiful setting for long walks, cycling, and water sports in the warmer months. As one of the largest country parks in Essex, Hadleigh is known for its breath-taking views complete with hills, pasture, ponds, a hay meadow and marsh, and old hedgerows and ponds. Visit during the spring for a bounty of bluebells, archangel and celandine. Enjoy a picnic in the meadows during summer, or pick your blackberries in autumn. Whilst you’re in the area, don’t forget to visit the impressive Hadleigh Castle.
