The Brothers Grimsby is a wild action‑comedy where a dim‑witted but big‑hearted football hooligan (Sacha Baron Cohen) reunites with his long‑lost brother (Mark Strong), now a deadly secret agent. Tilbury Docks and the area around Montreal Road were featured in the film, with the latter being used to depict a Job Centre.

Tilbury Fort is England’s best example of a 17th-century bastioned fortress, with its complete circuit of moats and outworks. Constructed on the site of a small Tudor blockhouse, originally built under the reign of Henry VIII, the fort was designed to defend the river Thames passage to London. It was nearby that Queen Elizabeth I famously rallied her army awaiting the Armada. Spend a day exploring the magazine houses used to store vast quantities of gunpowder, or enter the bastion magazine passages and experience what it was like for the soldiers who lived there.

Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge is just next door and is a perfect example of a Tudor hunt standing, where Henry VIII’s and royals alike would have held hunts and elaborate feasts in the 16th Century.
